Well I thought it was about time to officially introduce my car.. But first, a quick look back into how I got here.
I won a Clio 172 on ebay not too long ago. Managed to get it for £1295, which i thought was an alright price! Had all the belts and dephaser pulley done to it.
I loved driving it, but I never got attached to the car, and never felt that it truly got under my skin as such.
It was great to drive, and I finally experience 'safe' lift off over steer, without crashing!
I Just never felt that I was getting my moneys worth out of it.. it was slower then I was hoping for a 2.0 16v engine, in a 1200kg car.
So i felt it had to go up for sale. This is where the cabby comes in..

I got offered a Vauxhall Astra Cabriolet Edition 100 as a straight swap for my car. 2 years newer, and more tax/test. With it being a cabby, i didn't even think about it for 2 weeks..
I then checked the car out in some miniature pictures on the internet, and thought.. why not!
So took the plunge and went to view the car.
First thoughts... its shit.
Paint work was tatty, the interior wasnt clean, the wheels are covered in curb marks, and the low oil light was on.
I just wasn't impressed. Then the roof went down.. logbooks were signed and exchanged, and i was on my way to the petrol station to put some oil in my new cabby.

Now the current situation..
The car still uses a bit of oil, but less then half a litre in 3 quite mileage heavy weeks. So im happy with that. It had a leaking rocker cover gasket and also the sump plug how now seen better days!
The paint work is slowly getting there, it was special pearlescent paint, only found on the Edition100 cars, which there are only 2500 made.
I have now had the front bumper smoothed, as seen in the above picture, so the rest of the car will have to get done soon no doubt!
The roof has been treated with some autoglym rubber and vinyl treatment, to bring back all that deep black colour, and its worked!
I have treated the leather seats and full carpet to a decent clean, using the proper autoglym products. This has man a massive difference to the cashmere tan leather, bringing back the colour a lot!
The car now sits on coilovers too, which was my first modification, along with a DIY built in sat nav system.
I'm still waiting on parts to arrive, including a new steering wheel and gearknob from the states ;) and possibly some nice gold silk touches.. time will tell!
The car has properly got under my skin now.. and i couldn't tell you why!
Let me sum it up..
its not as low as i want
the paintwork is still not very good
its slow
its boring to look at, inside and out.

^ all of the above, and its overall just a bland car to drive, no excitement like the clio, doesnt get the looks like the audi.
But its mine, and i will soon show my personality through it . keep an eye out
